The hyperbole and downright misinformation surrounding use of RFID tags in supply chain operations has confused the market place and slowed adoption of it even for those that might find great benefit from the technology. Why, given the initial enthusiasm, have so few companies found applications or, of those who have, trumpeted benefits?
One company that’s looked closely at RFID--Intel--examined possible benefits by means of a proof-of-concept (POC) experiment begun at one of their plants in Malaysia and in cooperation with a Malaysian OEM plant that makes PCs. The POC experiment entailed adding UHF passive tags to cases of silicon microchips so as to track more than 80,000 processors. The results say a lot about how RFID technology can impact information flows and end-to-end visibility of the supply chain.
Tune in to this discussion and learn about some real-world uses of RFID technologies in a high-volume manufacturing and distribution environment, and how some leading companies are evaluating the benefits. This one-hour informational webinar will be presented live online.
