As Operations Manager-Director for Ace International, a wholesaler and distributor of hardware products, David is familiar with the international marketplace from both sides of the equation. The company sources product manufacturing and purchases as much as 65% of its products from China, then wholesales and distributes products throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. When he entered the EMIL class of 2006, he had 12 years of experience in the business. The appeal of the program was that it would enhance his international logistics expertise. "Logistics is a key differentiator between Ace and our competitors, and EMIL has helped give us the leading edge in this arena."

Q. Has EMIL changed how you do business in any way?

A. EMIL opened my eyes – and my mind – to the vast science of logistics that we can incorporate into our business to make us more efficient and competitive. Today, we are optimizing our operations, and improving our replenishing and forecasting systems as a direct result of knowledge I gained in the program.

Q. What was the most valuable part of the EMIL experience for you personally?

A. Traveling the world and seeing firsthand how people think and work in different countries gave me a unique perspective on the supply chain and all the factors we must consider when doing business in a global market. Then there are the contacts. Getting to know dozens of executives from a wide range of businesses, as well as the Institute’s faculty is an immeasurable asset that I know will be helpful in the future.
