With 22 years of experience in warehousing and materials management, Gary came to the EMIL Program as a General Motors’ Assembly Plant Materials Superintendent. “At that time, I wanted to become more involved with GM’s global supply chain projects and strategies.” Since graduating, Gary has done just that, moving on to the position of Lean Warehousing Strategy Manager at GM in Shanghai.

Q. In what ways has your participation in EMIL benefited your company?

A. My expanded understanding of global logistics and supply chain strategies has really boosted the effectiveness of projects that I’ve worked on for GM in various countries. In addition, the network of contacts I made through EMIL has reached beyond me personally to help other teams within GM.

Q. Now that you’ve graduated, how does EMIL impact your day-to-day work?

A. Probably the biggest benefit I see, now and for the future, is the ongoing support of the EMIL faculty, staff and other graduates. We stay in touch, exchange ideas and share opportunities in a way I know will have a positive impact throughout my career.
