With 12 years of experience, Matt Casbolt already had a taste of international logistics before entering EMIL in 2003. At Exel Supply Chain, a global supply chain management firm, he is responsible for company operations in New Zealand. Matt also led the expansion of a New Zealand 3PL into the Australia market as Managing Director prior to its acquisition by Exel. But through EMIL, he broadened his exposure to more cultures worldwide.

Q. How has EMIL affected your career?

A. EMIL provided me with greater insight and understanding of how supply chain theory and practice interrelate in the context of economic, political and cultural differences around the world. This has made me more effective at Exel. Plus, receiving such a respected degree, from a highly recognized institution, gives me a unique edge professionally.

Q. In what specific areas have you seen the impact of the EMIL Program for your company?

A. I have incorporated much of what I learned at EMIL into Exel’s development and operations processes to enhance our value offerings to existing customers – driving new business growth for Exel.

Q. What do you consider the most valuable part of your EMIL experience?

A. The EMIL Program let us see theory in practice through the residencies. At the same time, I had the chance to network with colleagues from every corner of the globe and establish lasting relationships which I continue to benefit from today.
